Have you ever feel so bored and reluctant to do anything? Staring on your working desk and dont feel like even want to move your finger?
More than a decade ago, we started this design studio, Passion in Design; Irony, today I am here struggling to retrieve the Passion in it, and in everywhere else in life.
I guess it could happen to everyone of us, being washed down by time, stress, every day chores, day to day routines, up and down in life… Our initial passion seems to fade away…
There is a term in Mandarin to describe this, “职业怠倦” (zhí yè dài juàn), which translates to “burn out in work”.
Thanks to today technology, tons of information is continuously fluxing towards us endlessly. The information could include happening news, latest promotions from brands, notification of new email in inbox, status update on some software on our device, they are just rudely jump into our face and wanting attention from us. All these unnecessary noise are exhausting, causing cognitive fatigue thus we are burnout and stress out.
Can we turn the table?
Today, I thought of what else technology can do to me besides brainlessly fluxing information towards my way. I asked ChatGPT (we talk about it in our previous post) to give me a random message, it gave me a quote.

That’s intriguing… I feel this is resonating with me and thats the motivation quote that I need at this moment. I feel inspired, now I want to refresh my passion, passion in design, passion in the things that I should focus on!
Thus I continue to ask ChatGPT, how can I put myself together? How can I find back my passion?
And guess what, here are the response from ChatGPT:
Finding your passion can be a journey that requires self-reflection and exploration. Here are some steps you can take to help you rediscover your passion:
1. Reflect on your past
Think about the things you used to enjoy doing in the past. What were your hobbies, interests, and talents? Consider what you liked about those activities and why you stopped doing them.

2. Try new things
Take on new challenges and explore new activities that interest you. This can help you discover new passions or rediscover old ones.

3. Identify your values
Your passions are often tied to your values. Identify what is important to you and what you want to contribute to the world.

4. Focus on what excites you
Pay attention to the activities that make you feel energized and excited. These can provide clues to your passions.

5. Take small steps
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to find your passion overnight. Take small steps and try new things, and trust that your passion will reveal itself over time.

Remember, it’s never too late to discover your passion. Be patient, stay open-minded, and keep exploring until you find what truly excites and inspires you.
